Poll Worker
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every facet of our lives, including the current United States elections. Earlier this year, we saw long voting lines in many states for primary elections. In 2016, more than 50% of volunteer poll workers were over 60 years of age. If that percentage holds true in 2020, many of our nation’s volunteers are in one of the at-risk categories for COVID-19, which will deter them from being able to participate.
With a shortage of poll workers, local election officials may be required to cut polling locations — you can’t open a polling location if there are no volunteers to check in and assist voters. If you or someone you know is interested in serving as a non-partisan poll worker on Election Day, Visit Power the Polls to get connected with your local election officials.
