Full Time Medical Assistant / Scribe Position - Boston, MA (Metrowest area)

We are a busy growing medical practice located in the MetroWest area of suburban Boston. Our practice houses 3 clinics: Complete Spine and Pain Care, Boston Stem Cell Center and The Center for Morton’s Neuroma. As a Medical Assistant / Scribe you would assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. You will get hands-on experience assisting many providers in all areas of our practice. You will be joining the supporting staff of our director and head physician, two nurse practitioners and one podiatrist dedicated to comprehensive patient care.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership skills, a successful work ethic and a record of excellence in previous coursework. We put a great deal of effort into training and we will cross train you as necessary. Our office has a positive, co-operative and supportive team culture, which is very important to us. Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 4-Year undergraduate degree with a concentration in any health related field (e.g. Biology, Chemistry,
  • Neuroscience, Psychology)
  • Pre-health related coursework and intention to apply to Medical, PA or Nursing School.
  • Some internship or prior work experience in a health-related setting preferred
  • Eligible to work in the United States and residency in the Metrowest area (or ability to relocate)

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to work with a team to provide the highest quality patient care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, both over the phone and in-person, as well as in writing.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Strong computer and typing skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and respond to changing needs.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tasks include bringing patients from the waiting room to the exam room, taking vitals, updating patient
  • history, updating the electronic medical record, and performing protocol-based tests such as depression
  • screening. At the end of the visit, may include escorting patients to the front desk, cleaning the exam
  • room, performing patient education, and following up on instructions from the physician.
  • Scribing for providers during patient exams. Charting physician-patient encounters in real time.
  • Manage messaging for the physician. Ensure incoming messages are followed up and resolved.
  • Coordinate with other office staff. Perform callbacks under physician or NP direction.
  • Coordinate pre-visit preparation including addressing the special needs of patients (ie comfort
  • measures, communication, and other appropriate issues).
  • Prepare treatment rooms with appropriate instruments and materials for examination of patients.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and treatments
  • Handle front administrative tasks: phone calls, scheduling, verifying insurance etc.
  • Collect biological specimens and administer medications under a provider's supervision.
  • Maintain the strictest confidentiality of any and all patient records, including but not limited to treatment,
  • diagnosis, history, medication, and financial status.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks requested to ensure the efficient performance of the practice.
