The Michael Vollmer ’90 Fund
Michael Vollmer ’90 was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (commonly referred to as “ALS”) in 2003. Mike’s teammates, family, and friends established the Mike Vollmer Wholly Discretionary Trust to assist with the steep costs associated with fighting ALS, and helping Mike maintain relationships with those dear to him.
After a twelve year battle, Mike died on August 29, 2015.
The founders of the Mike Vollmer Wholly Discretionary Trust approached the Harvard Varsity Club with the idea to transfer remaining funds to the HVC to “be dedicated to supporting, through a grant mechanism, medical and related needs of other Harvard athletes who suffer from ALS or other neurological diseases.”
And The Michael Vollmer ’90 Fund was born.
